Greetings from the BCA President

Change is in the air.  Spring is here, the Bissonet Civic Association  has new officers and the Jefferson Parish/ BCA Kawanee Beautification Project is complete.  Our BCA President Patti Christopher resigned in January, and the BCA Board, in accordance with the By-Laws, elected Jim Young as President and Fran King as Vice-President to complete the uncompleted terms of office. Personally, I would like to thank Patti Christopher for her dedication and service to the Bissonet Civic Association.

Bissonet Plaza has come a long way since Katrina, and we are continuing to improve every day.  We must all work together to improve the quality of our neighborhood.

Please join us at our General Membership Meeting, Tuesday, May 11, 2010, at the St. Phillip Neri Parish Center.  Social starts at 6:30 PM, food and drinks provided, general meeting to follow.  Remember, Bissonet Civic Association is your organization,  designed to improve the quality of our neighborhood.

Also, please visit the BCA website at www.bissonet.org. The website contains many links to valuable information; i.e., service request, grant information for home repairs, home purchases and closing assistance, etc. which we are unable to publish in this newsletter. The BCA Board Members and the various committees  have worked hard to improve our neighborhood, please join me in thanking all of them.

We welcome your input.  Contact us at:                    info@bissonet.org.

 By Bill Marion

In late 2009 Bissonet Civic Association applied for and received Employer Identification Number (EIN) under the Internal Revenue Service  section 501 (C)(4).  This was necessitated by grant donations from groups partnering to beautify Kawanee Avenue near Power Boulevard.  The EIN number will allow Bissonet Civic Association to accept donations and to earn interest on bank balances.  In January, the board voted to set up an interest bearing savings account for our $2500 reserve fund.
