Energy Assistance Programs Available To Jefferson Residents

Jefferson Community Action Programs (JeffCAP) opened its utility assistance Low Income Home Energy Assistance Programs (LIHEAP) in January of this year. You must be a resident of Jefferson Parish to qualify.

Appointments will be taken on the first Monday of each month, except when the first Monday falls on a holiday, in which case appointments will be taken on the following day. The program duration is through September 30, 2010, or until funds are depleted.  Please keep in mind that an appointment does not always guarantee that a payment will be made to your account.  Priority is given to the elderly, disabled, and families with children ages five and under. Applicants must bring proof of income and residency, such as a utility bill (energy or gas) to qualify. Additionally, applicants must bring identification for everyone in the household. If you applied last year, you must wait six months before reapplying for assistance.

We welcome new applicants who have never applied for LIHEAP.   You may contact one of the centers below for eligibility requirements.
