BEAUTIFICATION COMMITTEE

GARDEN OF THE MONTH GUIDELINES

 

Anyone (other than the Beautification Chairperson) who lives in the Bissonet Plaza Subdivision is eligible to receive the “Garden of the Month”!

 

GARDEN must be:

- Well maintained.  Free of weeds and dead plants.

- Neat, manicured, not overgrown.

- Interesting and eye catching with a good design.

- Color is preferable but not a requirement.

- If corner house, garden should wrap around from front of house to side.    

- No artificial plants or flowers in the garden, hanging pots or in flower pots.

- No exposed soaker hoses.

- Lawn art, wall art, fountains, birdbaths, etc. must be tastefully landscaped.

- Set a good example and enhance the look of our neighborhood.

 

YARD must be:

- Well manicured lawn (grass cut and edged), free of dead branches, etc.

- Free of toys and clutter on carport, front porch and lawn.  No accumulation of newspapers on lawn or porch. 

- No garbage cans out unless garbage day. 

- No garbage cans visible from street (store behind fence or in garage).

- No cars parked on grass.  No boats or trailers parked on driveway or grass.

 

HOUSE should be:

- Well maintained with no visible peeling paint or mildew.

- No signs in windows.

- Must be within the Jefferson Parish code standards.

 

You may nominate yourself or a neighbor to receive the “Garden of the Month” award.  To do so simply email (by the 15th of the month) beautification@bissonet.org and provide the name, address and phone number of the person you are nominating.

If your garden is selected you will receive a phone call from a member of the Beautification Committee letting you know your garden has been chosen.  If you accept the award we will display the Bissonet Civic Association Garden of the Month sign in your yard for one month and with your permission we will announce your home and garden on our web site and our newsletter.
